Spain Ibiza

Ibiza has a strong claim to being the planet’s clubbing capital but look beyond the lineup of international DJs and you’ll discover an island of stunning cove beaches, sprawling pine forests and time-warped villages.

At a glance

Beyond its boujee reputation, Ibiza has a strong rural heart, with stone villages, farmland, forests and walking paths shaping much of the interior.

West coast sunsets are part of daily life here, best appreciated from quieter coves rather than the most public viewpoints.

The White Isle has established itself as a hub for wellness travel – a land of farm-to-fork dining, yoga, meditation and transformational retreats.

From elevated beach shacks and world-class sushi to Michelin-star restaurants and countryside gems, Ibiza’s dining scene is as hot as its fabled nightclubs.

Sail along the coastline for sapphire seas and cerulean skies, step back in time among vibrant villages, then stock up on keepsakes at nostalgic hippy markets.

Overview

Dalt Vila, Ibiza Town’s UNESCO-listed old quarter, is a maze of medieval walls and charming cobbled streets. Traditional towns and villages like Santa Eulalia and Santa Gertrudis are wonderfully diverting, the former on the coast, the latter filled with gorgeous bars and restaurants in the heart of the island. For shopping, try the colourful hippy markets of Las Dalias in San Carlos or Punta Arabi in Es Canar, the oldest and largest hippy market on the island.

As for beaches, try the soft-sand strip of Talamanca Beach near Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay, just two kilometres from Ibiza Town, or head north to Cala Xarraca near Six Senses Ibiza, a wild and rocky cove with water so clear you can see the seabed from the surrounding pine forests.

Ibiza, Spain OKU Ibiza

This boho-chic hideaway has shunned the usual all-white Ibiza palette in favour of natural dark woods, poured polished concrete and hand-crafted furniture from Papua New Guinea. It’s a fashionable look that attracts a young, global crowd, who when not lounging around the pool – one of the largest in Ibiza – are happy to take advantage of complimentary morning yoga, personal training sessions, and quick and easy access to San Antonio and the sunset strip.
