Mexico Los Cabos

The desert meets the ocean in dramatic style around the haloed resorts of Los Cabos, the most famous of all Mexico’s beach hotspots, tucked away at the tip of the Baja Peninsula.

At a glance

The collective name for the sister towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, connected via a 33-kilometre highway known simply as the corridor.

Set at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez come together in spectacular fashion.

Undeniably beautiful and home to the vast majority of Baja’s most lavish resorts, top golf courses, best beachside cantinas and most photographed beaches.

Site of one of the most incredible annual wildlife events in the world: the arrival of thousands of grey whales from the icy Bering Sea looking to breed in warmer waters.

A natural playground with great surf spots and some remarkable dive sites, like the famous ‘Sand Falls’ where streams of sand start a 2,000-metre fall to the bottom of a marine canyon.

Overview

On the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, Los Cabos is home to breathtaking clifftop views, crashing waves and exclusive Hacienda-style residences. Stylish, scenic and sun-kissed, this 25-mile corridor links the two desert towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. Of the two, the former is famous for its fun-loving beach scene and wild nightlife, while the latter offers luxury and sophistication in equal measure.

Los Cabos also plays host to one of the most spectacular annual migrations nature has to offer, when several thousand grey and humpback whales arrive each winter to breed and calve in the warm, shallow waters. The region benefits from an ideal year-round climate, but if you want to see the whales you’re best to arrive between December and March.
