While many resorts become defined by their busiest moments, Mandarin Oriental Desaru Coast feels equally defined by its quieter ones.
The resort is home to just 45 villas spread across 128 acres of coastline and tropical landscape, creating a sense of privacy and space that remains noticeable throughout the summer season.
Designed by the late Kerry Hill, the architecture embraces natural airflow, shade and a connection to the surrounding environment. Villas open naturally towards the outdoors, dining spaces welcome sea breezes and the boundaries between inside and outside often feel wonderfully blurred.
Alongside the experiences available on property, the team also works closely with local partners to help guests discover more of the surrounding destination, creating opportunities to connect with both nature and local culture.
Considered to the finest detail it is far from luxury for luxury's sake. As our conversation came to a close, one final answer seemed to capture the spirit of the resort perfectly:
“At its core, the resort is about connection—to nature, to culture, and to a slower rhythm of living.”
