We Asked The Myconian Collection What Gives Mykonos Its Colour

By Hayley French

We asked the teams behind the Myconian Collection — Myconian Korali, Myconian Villa Collection, Myconian Sunrise and Myconian Utopia — about flavour, colour and the personality behind four very different corners of the island.

Ask each hotel what makes it come alive, and no two answers sound the same: a confident flash of yellow by the pool at sunset, a retro-bright palette pulled from the 60s and 70s, warm wood against clean white architecture, a view of the Aegean that seems to define the island's colour all on its own.

The Dish That Captures Korali's Spirit

Red mullet savoro, sautéed with grapes, onion, aged vinegar and rosemary at Myconian Korali. Takes a familiar Greek island preparation and gives it a more composed, contemporary touch. The aged vinegar and onion recall traditional savóro's sweet-sour depth, while the grapes add a quiet brightness that ties the plate to the Greek summer table without tipping into cliché.

“It expresses the same balance Korali stands for: rooted in Mykonos, but not confined by cliché. Elegant without being distant. Precise without losing warmth.”

The People Behind Each Hotel's Character

At Korali, Executive Chef Panagiotis Tsoukatos leads Baos Fine Dining with seasonal ingredients and clean technique.

At Villa Collection, General Manager George Manes shapes the guest experience quietly, through rhythm and structure rather than visible flourish.

At Sunrise, Operations Manager Alex Kraniotakis turns the small daily adjustments of service into a stay that feels relaxed and easy.

At Utopia, Maître de Maison Kostas Kazopoulos treats hospitality as timing and presence, a welcome offered at the right moment, arranged with quiet confidence.

Colour, Detail And The Most-Loved Spot

Ask the team to nominate the most colourful spot on the property, and the answer is immediate: the infinity pool at Myconian Villa Collection, where the view opens completely onto the Aegean. The kind of blue that seems to define the island itself.

Elsewhere, colour shows up differently at each hotel: confident yellow accents by Korali's pool at sunset, the Rolls-Royce that sets Villa Collection's tone from the entrance, Sunrise's playful 60s-and-70s poolside palette, and the warm wooden detailing that runs through Utopia's clean, white Cycladic architecture.

What Guests Notice With Their Senses

At Korali, guests feel both sides of Mykonos; the energy of Mykonos Town close by, the hotel itself calm and retreat-like. At Villa Collection, it's the openness of the infinity pool and its quiet sense of luxury. At Sunrise, it begins with seclusion: sea air, and the sound of waves setting the pace. At Utopia, the hotel's distinctive aroma and starlit infinity pool combine light, scent and water into something both elevated and intimate.

Thoughtful Sourcing, Not Decoration

Across the Collection, sourcing is treated as part of the story rather than a footnote: farm-to-table ingredients, sustainable materials, local artisans, refillable amenities and water-conscious choices, all shaped around the island itself. Colour and flavour here are tied to a broader relationship with Mykonos, its people and its resources.

Why Now, And For Whom

Each hotel has found its own season and its own guest. Korali leans into dining and romance, with sunset over the pool and an atmosphere built for two. Villa Collection suits multigenerational travel, its spacious villas built for families and celebrations. Sunrise offers easy, unplanned beach days around Almiriki Beach and Taverna. Utopia, shaped by the Relais & Châteaux tradition, is positioned as a honeymoon destination, private, elevated and closely tied to Mykonos's romantic reputation.

Responsible Travel In Mykonos

Mykonos is a small island carrying significant seasonal demand, and sourcing choices matter here more than most places. The Collection's approach — shorter supply chains, local partnerships, refillable amenities, water-conscious operations — reflects an ongoing commitment rather than a finished achievement. Travellers can support it by choosing local tavernas and artisans, being mindful of water use, and considering shoulder-season travel, when the island carries a visit more easily. Whether it's Korali, Villa Collection, Sunrise or Utopia, the Lusso team would be very happy to help start planning your stay.
